Ebay scam of the day?

I am selling a bike for my son with a starting price of £150 and have had this message:


Hi,

Keen to give you asking price for this bike of £170. If I sent a bike box could you twist handlebars and put it in? Not bothered about scratches. I will also send a courier. Please let me know if this is ok?


I am assuming that they will claim not to have had it or something, is that correct?

I've replied saying "fine, payment by bank transfer".

I am assuming it's a scam, but perhaps a more experienced Ebay user could confirm please?

It's a scam - a courier sent by buyer won't provide you with proof of postage. Buyer buys, courier takes bike, buyer claims on paypal/ebay that item never arrived, paypal take your money as you cannot prove despatch.
If you insist on bank transfer I think you'll be ok.
