Disappearing bottle banks.
Discussion
My village used to have 2 bottle banks which were well used and made money for the parish council of approx £5K/annum. Unfortunately, they weren't always emptied often enough and people left their bottles at the scene when the banks were full. When a new supermarket was built at the edge of the village, the supermarket said they would host the bottle banks and also clothes/cardboard recycling bins. Hence, the parish council removed the village bottle banks and let the supermarket take over responsibility.
Unsurprisingly, these weren't always emptied often enough and people left their bottles at the scene and also excess cardboard and bags of clothes. The supermarket has now removed all the recycling facilities.
Is this a similar situation where you live?

Local supermarket to me has I'd guess 6 bottle banks and they get emptied weekly according to the people who live locally who complain on Facebook about the noise.
Clearly people who live in the same area as me love to drink.
There's maybe 4 clothes banks too which seem to be emptied regularly.

That would be a sensible option - but our council don't offer that.
Same. They did, then they didn't and they seem to be gradually reducing the number of things you can put in the recycling. They didn't take my bin twice, once because I'd emptied the shredder into it (its paper right?) and the second time because the milk bottles had green lids on still. Seems they will only really contemplate taking plain cardboard.I'll admit, I haven't got time or space to build up stores of glass and metal and plastics to go to the (at the moment completely closed and not set to reopen any time soon recycling centre "because Covid"). So I just bin it all. The recycling centre could so very easily be orchestrated to keep social distancing. Its already a one-way system and they could quite easily limit the number of vehicles. Its not even got that many staff so they can keep apart very easily. But no, like the rest of the council here, its any excuse for an easy life of doing SFA whilst on full pay. You'll note, all private business seems to have found a way to keep going, but council places say its too unsafe to go back to work.
Doesn't bother me too much because we also seem to have those spontaneous recycling fires quite often, where all that paper and plastic you diligently sorted goes up in a big inferno, converting it to harmless thick, black, acrid smoke.
There is a local super market with bottle banks (full) and clothes banks (full to bursting and now just has bags of clothes lying around).
Oh but the council tax will go up every year to cover their level of "service" (which mysteriously seems to go in the other direction).
Our bottle bank near us is always full, its really strange. They don’t collect glass so it could all go in the bin. We have a young baby that has mega long walks in a buggy, so we try to get into the habit of putting glass under said buggy and depositing it on a walk where possible. Which can often lead to waking the baby up.
I’m guessing there is not much money in glass.
