Near 15 year old applied for a pot washer / glass collector job at a decent local pub. They had advertised via. Fb post.
She did a 2 hour trial, which they did not pay her for. My understanding is that they had quite a few free ‘trials’ lined up.
Since then there has been zero feedback.

tty I think, given that this will be most kids first job application, and that they did not even give them a fiver for their work...My wife applied for a finance role at goodwood estate, I was pleased as we thought they were a nice bunch to work for etc. Interview went ok, asked about availability etc. They promised feed back either way. Didn’t hear a thing.
We are now grateful she didn’t get the job if that’s how they operate, tell your daughter the same

If they’re using Facebook to promote their business and get free pot washers in then maybe see if other people on Facebook have had similar experiences on the original advert or their page etc? If others have had the same experience then it will soon bite them on the arse.

I wouldn't give up hope just yet. Knowing the high tec IT used at Goodwood, there's a good chance her application acceptance/rejection letter is still being processed within some dusty PC tower. We are now grateful she didn’t get the job if that’s how they operate, tell your daughter the same
Give it another year or so before becoming disgruntled.
This is very common,pubs,vape shops etc get away with murder.My son was daft enough to do a 6 hour shift/trial for a shopkeeping job.It came as no surprise when he didn’t get the job.What wasn’t a surprise was how the owner never seemed to find the right candidate to employ full time.

I agree. It’s a desperately short-sighted way of getting a few hours of minimum wage (not even minimum wage if they’re under 16) work done. Exceptions to the rule being family, OAPs, charity cases etc, etc.
I got caught out as a kid in a similar way and it taught me, it's a life lesson that's all and a trick that's as old as the hills; dangling the carrot in front of the donkey. I still get it tried on me now in business.
So there is a thing: Pubs are part of the community and have really struggled over the last few months which would have been their most profitable. If they'd have asked kids to come and help for nothing the response would have been zero.
So the OPs daughter (and every other er, mug) has inadvertently helped keep a business and the cornerstone of the community afloat.
Win-win situation
