Tips on how to deal with this Ebay problem.

I've sold a lot of Lego for my son on Ebay.

I sold three figures new and boxed. The boxes were okay-ish but not perfect and the photos showed that.

Someone contacted me to buy them before the auction end and I messed about a fair bit to arrange that for him. I also sent it courier the same day so he had the items quickly.

He has emailed me today saying that the items were a gift for his nephew, who is a collector, and he has sent photos of extremely battered boxes, which I suspect are not the ones I sent him.

I cannot prove that he has done a switcheroo, but I think he has.

I don't buy the "collector" thing, because the boxes were clearly not perfect. I think collectors like perfect boxes don't they?

Is it a refund and suck it up situation, I am presuming so. But any other suggestions welcome.

If the damage on your photos and his photos don't line up you can argue your case.

Two important issues though - what payment mode did you use, and are you willing to lose access to it, and eBay?

If he deposited money into your bank account and you can just ignore him and get banned on eBay. If he paid by Paypal he's almost certainly going to win...

I'd first ask what he wants (rather than offer refund)

He will either return damaged boxes - getting your better ones for free or some combination of the above
