Your Irrational Hatred?......

I have developed an irrational hatred of the sound of Radio 1 being blasted full volume from a makita radio in the workshop at work.

Ive explained to the other guys that i do not share the same enjoyment from the garbage that is played, and that they should play it at a reasonable volume.

However it soon ends up back on full whack, so every time i walk by i will either turn it down or off, but it ends up back on within seconds.

I am now getting very close to getting a length of 100X50 steel box section to bludgen the Makita to death.

I don't know why it has started to annoy me so much that i am thinking about it on my day off, but it may turn me into a psychopath and do something i shouldn't........


I am normally very calm and easy going.



Anyone else developed a level of hatred over something like this?

Other peoples taste in music always sounds garbage, including whatever it is that you listen to. Get some ear plugs.

when we built the house one brickie had a ghetto blaster on full volume radio one
neighbours 70 yds away complained, I was out, when I got in I turned it down,
20 mins later it was turned back up, I kicked it off the scaffold,

next day he turned up with a pair of headphones,

I tried this, it made it worse. As it drowned out all the other noises, so all i can hear is radio fking 1

The DeWalt radio sounds fking awesome with radio 1 at high volume compared to the Makita.

Similar, but not exclusively Radio 1, any music being played by a phone without headphones or speakers etc. irritates me it just sounds tinny.

The people who live opposite me.

I live in a complex of flats laid out roughly in a square and face towards the inner courtyard, in the past I never regarded this as a privacy problem as it's getting on for 100 metre to the flats facing towards mine and the glass is fairly reflective.
That was until the current occupiers of the flat directly opposite mine moved in around the end of last year. There are at least three of them and all of them seem to be heavy smokers who insist on hanging out of their window to smoke (I assume their landlord stipulated no smoking). I'm sure I'm exaggerating but it feels like if they are in it's almost guaranteed one of those fkers is stood at their window staring straight into my flat. During lockdown this was all day every day and it drove me up the wall to the point where my tolerance for it has become virtually zero. I know it's their home and they're perfectly entitled to stand by the window but I also "fk OFF YOU PACK OF PERVERTED aholeS!"

And yes, one of them is there right now.

I used to when I was a Prison Officer turn noisy radios off with a mug of water. This would then flip their power out so no telly or kettle either. The next day their radios were always at a reasonable volume.

Yup.

Spent at least five minutes typing that, messing around trying to edit it, screwing the formatting up and then fixing it and still there they are. To be fair they don't literally stare directly at my flat the whole time - I think my annoyance would be fully justified if they did but the amount of time someone is at that window is crazy.

Yep, usually rap or similar, a young guy walked past the house earlier as I was getting out of the car, he had some st rap kind of thing playing (does anyone actually like this kind of music or is it just a current trend that some feel they must like it, to fit in) out of his crappy phone speaker, god it sounded awful, both the sound quality and what he was listening to!

It's the same with people blaring music out of their cars, whatever type of music, if just screams "I'm a knob".

no.., not developed, more born with it! Its called good taste!

Seriously though I find radio 1 a thinking inhibitor; trying to plot cable routes or downlight layout with it bashing your brain is like trying to paint a picture while having a fight.

Nothing irrational with hating Radio 1.

Not far behind is Radio 2. You get that condescending tt Vine on at lunchtime with morons phoning in to talk about trivial crap. Followed up by, unbelievably Steve Wright. I remember listening to his afternoon show about 20 years ago at an old workplace, but since then haven't tuned into his show. However, in the past few weeks I've caught a bit of it, and quite frankly it hasn't changed. The same songs, the same features (well it feels like it), and the same inane waffle. I reckon they are just re-running his old shows, no-one would notice. Plus I reckon he invents "messages" from listeners, they all start "hi Steve, loving the show..." followed by some boring crap about what they're up to:

"Hi Steve, loving the show, just off to Bognor with the family, we want to say hi to..."
"Hi Steve, really love the show, just watching my husband water the garden"
"Hi Steve, love the show, just hoovering the house"

Pretty sure if you looked up "bland" in the dictionary it would have the Steve Wright afternoon show plus his listeners.

Doesn't get much better with Sara Cox, then once you get outside of the core hours they just go really weird and obscure...

I hate Schmee or whatever the twot is called. He's probably perfectly nice but irritates me enormously.
