When we gave our son the middle name of Leo back in 1998, people laughed at us and said we were crazy. That it was a stupid name. Then Tony Blair copied us with his youngest born soon afterwards. Now every other fker is called Leo.

Where I lead, others follow!

A mate called his son that about 10 years ago. I must admit I was surprised at the time as it was very unusual IMO. And now it’s 3rd most popular?!

My wife wanted to call our first born Noah if it was a boy 17 years ago, luckily it was a girl and she was spared 17 years of boat jokes.

Our baby circle is full of 2 year old arthur's jacks and harrys. I've always wondered if there was an attempt to pick a less popular name, but I've been forbidden from asking.

Sorry, but no baby has ever been named "Nigel".

Nigel's spontaneously materialise in their early 30s and seamlessly transition into everyday life. In fact, I reckon all Nigel's are aliens... scratchchin

Apart from anything else, Noah willingly collaborated in genocide in return for him and his family escaping death. In fact genocide is too mild a word for it, it was the complete destruction of all other humans and animals. If he had any backbone at all, he would have said "you want to do what......well you can fk right off with that idea you maniac, I want no part of it."

Why you would want to name your baby after someone who was complicit in the murder of millions of other babies is beyond me. may as well call him Adolf!

I have a German friend named Adolf, still quite a popular name apparently despite the obvious connotations.

I could forgive him for that, but it's a real shame he put the lions in the same hold as the unicorns.

I find these lists fascinating. Worth downloading the full lists on the ONS website (warning, they are big files).

Alexa has plummeted in popularity since the Amazon device came out. 8 Nigels vs none the previous year. More boys named Maverick (72) than Steven (68)! And a whole plethora of double-barrelled first names now especially among girls.

Doesn't look legit.

If those are the top names for both sexes then it looks like double the number of boys are being born than girsl and that really isn't the case.
Even if you account for some weird figures lower down the pecking order
