Children's wheelchair measurement

I am wondering if the PH masses can help me here.

I have been asked by a riding school that teaches disabled children to quote them for a raised deck area so parents and their families can stand and watch them while they are going around the arena on the horses.

The arena has a wooden upright structure so is fully enclosed and this raised deck area is the other side of it, they had an adult chair on site so we got a measurement for an average adult sat in it, from floor to the centre of the eyes at around 1200mm.

But to make sure I don't build the raised deck too low I need to know that same measurement for a child sat in a wheel chair, from the ground to roughly eye level.

Google doesn't bring much up only wheelchair sizes etc, can anyone help me out with the one measurement, it doesn't need to be too precise as children grow quickly and no doubt you get different size chairs but if anyone has the ability to quickly measure for me I would be grateful.

Had something similar - the problem was that building control required an 1100mm high handrail and wouldn't make an allowance for disabled.

In the end we glazed a 1m wide section

I asked my wife for you as she is a specialist in this field, she suggested you goggle the Rea Azalea Minor wheelchair, this specialist chair for children/teenagers has all measurements on the website...at a quick glance your looking at 1000mm to 1100mm approx.
The important thing will be to ensure the deck has at least a 1500mm wide access ramp.

Thanks, smallest one on there looks like 410mm to the seat height, the arena wall is 1500mm high, we decided on a 760mm raised deck providing a child’s chair could be used on it, making the seat height 1170 from floor level, so a child’s eye sight level will be well above the wall as it is 330mm above the chair seat.

They want steps and will purchase some aluminium ramps to lock onto the steps when needed.

Just measured my sons (age 11) wheelchair, his eyes would sit at approximately 118cm from the ground. Obviously exact measurement depends on the angle of the tilt, age of the child and make of the wheelchair.

Thanks for that, 1180 plus 760 deck = 1940, well above the 1500 high wall already there so it looks like all those on the deck in chairs will be able to see the complete arena.
