Someone dropped their bank card on the street just now. I picked it up, there was no one around answering to the name on the card, Should I cut it up?

This happened to me a while back (I found a bank card), I just handed it in at the corresponding bank.

I imagine they’ll block it ( assuming they know how ). I’ll pop it into the bank on Monday.

I wouldn't bother - they'll definitely have cancelled it by then. Cut it up and stick it in the bin.

I've found a card before, call number on back tell them where you found it and bank will cancel it.

I found a wallet once and rang the number on the bank card. They gave him my address and he collected it.

No idea whether they cancelled the cards or not.

I found a girls purse one morning with a Halifax card in it so I passed it onto my neighbour who worked for Halifax to contact the owner etc

That afternoon someone stoved in the back on my 328 coupe writing it off

Last week someone I used to work with found a card with a fairly unusual name. They searched Facebook and found I was a mutual friend. I called him and he hadn’t even realised it was lost yet! Back to him 10 minutes later. Small world!

I lost my wallet once. Didn't even know I had until it was posted through my letterbox the next morning.

See if you can look them up on Facebook directly. If not stick a post in your local Fb group, every city has one.

They might not yet realise the card is lost and it'll be easier to get it back from you than have it replaced.

If you want to test if its been cancelled or not just get yourself a McDonalds or a KFC or something, anything below £30 you don't need the pin for.

I found a set of keys on the pavement once, including a car key. I walked down the street where I found them plipping the key next to every car. Eventually, they unlocked a Peugeot, so I knocked on the door of the house I was outside and said to the old lady who answered, "Do you know who owns that car?"

"That's my son's car" she said. So I handed her the keys, told her I'd picked them up down the road, and walked away.

And by recounting that here I have proven my belief that there is no such thing as an altruistic act.

Found a wallet at Silverstone once, bank cards and PINs written on a scap of paper plus cash. Had a business card and his work was about 45 minutes from where I lived. Drove there on the Monday, barely got a thank you.

Fairly sure it was a joke, but as an ex-taxi driver are you more annoyed that he's suggesting using a card rather than paying by cash?

Two things, one, if he’d inserted a smiley, it may have been obvious that it was a joke, and two, I never in all the years that I was capable of taking cards in my taxi, turned one down.
I knew that once I’d validated a card via my reader, the fare would appear in my bank statement soon.
I wouldn’t take cheques, (too much hassle), but aside from that I didn’t care if it was cash or charge, just as long as I got what was on the meter when I dropped the job.
