Stop lottery DD, switch to competitions?

I've been playing the UK National Lottery for a lot of years now in a fire and forget manner. Set up as D/D, lucky dip numbers. But I've barely won anything except for the odd 2.60 here and there. I don't bet on anything else, in fact I've never even been inside a bookies or on a betting website.

At the moment I think it's 26 quid a month which isn't much in the grand scheme of things but I can't help thinking that I've had enough of paying this. Was thinking of putting that bit of pocket money into the likes of BOTB.

What other car / bike competition websites are out there for a punt of a few quid a week?

The odds on BOTB are not great to be honest. I sometimes play Rev Comps, Dream Car Giveaway and 7 Days Performance.

I play the 3 mentioned above and won a very decent r53 Mini JCW a couple of years ago with DCG

The odds are so long for all the lottery games it's near impossible to comprehend.

How would you fancy your chances picking a specific numbered raffle ticket out of a box of 10,000? Probably not... now try to comprehend a box of 140,000,000 tickets.

Saying that though, I understand why people play and why the heck not?! A couple of quid buys some anticipation and dreaming.

That's what people don't get. All these fools who go on about it being a tax on the stupid. I know it's highly unlikely I'll ever win. But I might, and for a couple of quid, I get to while away hours on the train or in the bath, planning my jet set lifestyle!

Absolutely cracking value. I can't think of anything else I spend so little on that gives me so much pleasure.

My only worry is that if I did win, what would I do about all the begging letters. But i guess I'll keep on sending them.

Anyway, lottery debit cancelled. Punted 20 quid on the Porche Carrera on BOTB being drawn on Sunday. Now it's even better as I can spend hours on the Porsche configurator debating the spec.

All of those hours could be spent on creating a jet set lifestyle... I’m much happier content with what I have and what I’m working for than dreaming about what I could win.

If you want to turn 20/month into the chance of a 50k car then go to a casino.

Put it all on a single number, and if it comes in, do the same again, then if that wins, put it all on red or black, then if that wins, do red or black again.

That turns your £20.00 into £100k subject to house limits.
