Shpock v Ebay

Not used Shpock but have always used ebay until I had to empty my late mum's house - appliances, contents, gardening stuff, everything.
I tried Facebook marketplace : post an ad, put any old price on it, and somebody somewhere will travel for up to an hour if they get a tenner off the price.
Never seen anything like it.

I use gumtree and eBay at the same time for the same item

I often say on the e ah advert “this is also for sale on gumtree” more often that not people then contact you through gumtree

I always sell stuff that isn’t being posted, so your mileage may vary

Very good for straight forward face to face selling. I find it much better than ebay.

I ditched eBay as there seemed to be too much supply driving prices down.

Tried Facebook Marketplace to get rid of an old telly for £50. Christ, they were like pigeons on a chip. I literally had 50 people messaging me.
The problem with selling stuff on FB Marketplace is that you have to deal with the kinds of people who buy stuff off FB Marketplace...

Shpock has always seemed ‘chavvy’ to me.

We've just listed a pretty much brand new sofa on marketplace and Shpock. Cost over £800 a couple of months ago, sat on about 3 times so we want about £575 for it.

We've had no end of offers of about £100 quid for it.

My first selling experience is not going well

Sadly 225 reduction is not enough there, you don’t get delivery, Warranty, backup if it goes wrong etc

Why would the warranty not be valid for the new owner?

Given up with Ebay totally.

For the tatt that youd like a small amount of Cash for, Ive always found Facebook Marketplace ok.

Collection only, Cash on collection, and no haggling worded into the advert seems to work for me.

Yup collection only with cash for anything I’d be upset getting scammed on.

Junk and stuff that will end up in bin is worth it on ebay
