It may not be new but my goodness this country is surely a world leader in exaggeration and scaremongering.

I mean when are we gonna grow some and man up!

The weather. We are getting a bit of rain, we’ve seen none for months and suddenly there’s a weather warning and risk of death from flooding. In the summer, when it got to 25 degrees (hardly Saharan) we were warned to stay in in case we got burnt.

If we sit for 10 minutes in a jam suddenly the traffic is carnage, potholes are the size of craters apparently, and if a shop runs out of loo roll people go into a meltdown.

Don’t even start me off on Covid.

What has happened to this once great nation?
Why does something so insignificant have us running for shelter.

We are a nation of Drama queens with no backbone I think.

Daily Mail and Daily Express fear-mongering in the name of profit.

OP probably has a sniffle. The media will be telling him he has a killer virus that might wipe us all out.

Drama queens with no backbone you say?

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I refer you to your recent post where you walked into an inanimate object, hurt your knee and seeked compo. You are the problem.

Fear and control. Lots of similarities between the climate scam and the covid scam. Both built on dodgy modelling from dubious science that has enthralled our globalist politicians, both peddled relentlessly by a left wing biased media and both been used to change our behaviour.

A bit of rain and wind is now Storm Alice and a winter cold virus is now a ‘deadly’ Coronavirus.

Risk averse and overly feminised politics or something more sinister at work, who knows.

you want to try working in the civil service! Folks are positively encouraged with excuses so they can avoid work whilst those that want to work and work hard end up feeling that they have to do even more.

This once “great nation” is still here but the tricks played then don’t work anymore. We were at the fore front of the industrial revolution so cutting edge innovation at the time. We were also a great nation because we exploited our colonies with huge resources and people, there was a massive difference between incomes and livelihood to the point we “invented” the citizen classes! We exploited child labour and in the main and were slave traders. That’s what made the country great then and we have been living the dwindling spoils of those times.

Today... there is no “backbone” on a nation that is encouraging living off the state, the nanny state takes that backbone away... why would people bother.

The rights are very unbalanced against people’s duties or civic duties. It’s all about ‘my rights’ but not my duty/role in society.

When people think
State = endless money pot no need for a backbone. It is actually encouraged not to have one little darlings!

I believe in paying people a decent wage but make them take responsibility about their own lives and stop the silly compo or blame culture. Many times they have all but themselves to blame for their problems. But accepting that blame and working towards a solution is too much for them.

For company owners/employers... stop exploring some workers but I get that at the lower end it is hard to justify paying more for same or less commitment/work ethic, etc. it’s a balance. The society we live on needs a rethink, sadly the media fuel other interests that are not constructive but divisive and create further resentment, off course that is done not out of ideology but in the pursuit of profit.

The OP is quite right and it's definitely all three, because of the media and what passes for journalism.

Let me collectively ask you this...If you didn’t watch the news or use social media- would you know anything at all was apparently wrong in the world?
It’s all hyped up by the media who are just looking to sell a product, I.e ‘the news’.
