The Enneagram Institute.
Discussion
Has anyone participated in an Enneagram Test?
A few years ago now I was referred to a speech therapist. An ex minister he was also a great believer in the Enneagram Institute.
I did the full test and the results were interesting to say the least. I would say it takes someone with knowledge to properly interpret the results.
He was also able to form a pretty quick and accurate opinion of my wife just from conversations. (The mark of a good therapist I acknowledge)
The overriding conclusion that I came to was that although we think of ourselves as individual thinkers in reality when you break it down we can be put into boxes.
I’d be interested in a professional opinion of the test if anyone has one.

What does it have to do with speech therapy?
O/T but this does. When my son was approaching 3, the health visitor (not a native English speaker) decided he wasn't rolling his 'Rs' properly, and referred him to a speech therapist.
This lady showed him a picture of a steam train crossing a wide valley.
Therapist, "Now then, can you tell me what the train is on?
Jnr "A viaduct"
Therapist, "No, Its a bridge "
Jnr. "Its a viaduct"
Therapist, " But say bridge for me"
Jnr, "No, its a viaduct!!"
Moral of this story, dont argue railway technicalities with a kid who's got every Thomas the Tank Engine book.
(He did say "therapist" ok though, which convinced her her had no problem)

Speech therapy especially amongst adults has progressed over the years from simply ‘teaching’ how to speak to understanding the deeper impact of having a stammer. The Enneagram Program was only a sideline but a tool in learning to understand yourself. For instance the first session I had with him was such a revelation of the feelings that were buried inside me that I burst into tears when I got home.
As it happens I made good progress with him over only a few sessions but the big step came when he suggested I enroll in a 2 week course at the City Lit.
There as well, although we were taught some ‘techniques’ to gain fluency a lot of the time was spent discussing the mechanics of stammering, how the stammering made us feel and simply practicing being fluent.
Happy ending...after having a stammer for 50 odd years its to all extents and purposes gone.
