Yeah just refund and say as states in listing collection only please message so we can arrange a mutually agreeable time to collect ... Happens to me all the time .... When they say sorry I cant you can then safely cancel the listing as buyer has asked me to cancel... Mentioned twice that it is collection only

Edit to say did you put cash on collection in listing ? You dont want anyone collecting and paying via paypal ...

Had no intention of ripping him off, but when I collected he used his smartphone to scan a barcode that eBay sent me following my payment for the item. As far as PayPal are concerned by allowing him to scan the barcode I could no longer log a complaint/chargeback on the grounds of the item not being received.
Seems like a decent system, surprised it took them so long.

Seems like a decent system, surprised it took them so long.
Now I’ve had a few sales without problem with the new payment system it’s pretty much business as usual for me.
I only sell when they have cheap FFV weekends which recently has been about every 2 weeks. They dont appear to do the £1 FFV anymore but the 80% deals are good enough for me.

Sorry for the thread hiijack but can anyone who sells regularly on ebay point me to any up to date links that walk you though selling on there ie how to avoid the pitfalls of idiots trying to scam you etc etc.
I've got a load of stuff i want to sell (no electonics or computers so that should minmise the scammers hopefully), I know ebay isnt the only game in town anymore but ithey are stlll the biggest. I feel grubby even contemplating using them to sell but there you are. I should say that ive never sold anything on there so have zero experience of selling on ebay. thanks!

The tip I'd give is start with low value items to get the feel for it. Also, look at other listings of similar items.
Yes, there are scammers, but the vast majority are straightforward honest people.
I got well and truly fekd over by ebay last year. Bought a new PV inverter for my solar panels, best part of a grand fitted and put the old one on Ebay clearly marked as not working and collection only due to size etc. and for parts only. Highest bidder at ninety quid was in Poland so initially I said no but he messaged me back saying he's a lorry driver and does regular deliveries to UK. Paid by Paypal so I thought wtf let him come and collect it
He turned up, I showed him the inverter along with the manual and he loaded it in his artic having checked he'd paid. Two days later ebay refunded him the zlotys 'cos he said it didn't work. Course it didn't .The ad said that it didn't work and I'd showed him it didn't work. Ebay wouldn't budge, says I misrepresented the item. TBH I was only going to dump it so no big loss but...............

Xyz car badge, pins broken, faulty spares
Said in description that the pins on back were missing, several photos, said it was spares
Numpty buys it, then gets refunded because the pins are missing
The only stuff I sell on eBay is stuff that would end up in the bin or cash on collection outside of eBay (put a phone number in the listing somehow) I’d love to use the system properly but don’t like getting shafted
