I do view "inspirational quotes" with a (un?)healthy degree of cynicism, but a book I've just finished had the below which, for some reason, just struck a chord with me:

‘Any good that I may do, let me do it now, for I may not pass this way again.’

I think they can be very helpful - they focus your mind etc. and I love that quote as it reminds us to live for others and to do so now - great contrast to the more selfish aspects of our society!

Without this becoming a religious debate (I am very accepting of everyone's right to think what they will!) for me as a Christian - the BIble is full of this stuff - and while it can be hard to remember to act on it. Probably one of the most memorable verses is Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again, rejoice!" It can be hard to remember to do that when we have Covid etc. but it is a good underlying basis for life to remember how fortunate we are, and to thank God for it - I seem to remember it was a song we sang at school as well!

I saw that one too. I've also heard it paraphrased for starting to care about your fitness (swap 50 years ago for five years ago).

My new year's resolution a couple of years ago was " If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything". I've (mostly ) managed to stick to it ever since (even on Pistonheads) and genuinely think it has greatly improved my life. May even have made things nicer for others too.
