Forums that have died a death

Following on from the 'Ever been banned from a forum' thread, what internet forums have you used in the past that have since gone silent/died due to to a multitude of reasons?

I very rarely use dedicated owners club forums now...they're all on Facebook these days it seems?

Our Vauxhall forum died best part of 10 years ago, it went from hundreds of posts a week to just a handful. Our regional section dropped to one post a month. As you said, once Facebook arrived everything went there.

Was hundreds of posts a day back in the day when i incurred the wraith of my girlfriend's mum as she could never get through on the phone as I was hogging the dialup.

Doesn’t matter what model of car, bike, boat, camera, or toaster you have, there is usually an active Facebook group for it.

the problem with facebook groups is everything falls off the page, nothing is saved.

OstiArchive, clothing forum for Massimo Osti brands. It's still slightly active but most of the deals happen on FB now and a lot of the chat/banter moved over onto Whatsapp. Used to have a few hundred members but now there's probably 200 or so.

Most dedicated forums have died due to the groups on Facebook. The MLR (Lancer Register) used to be buzzing, now it’s a grave yard. Facebook groups are ok, just not the same as a forum as posts get buried.

BMW Land was a great forum, sadly it's owner died and everything disappeared

A truly great site back in the day, some of the stuff in there would leave half the population in a heap on the floor crying with outrage now

I seem to remember at one point they were blamed for causing a decrease in productivity of the working population every Friday, when they sent out the newsletter…

The first forum I joined was 328life.

That died in the mid 2000’s.

It was mostly U.S based.

Blatters, a petrol Ted venture about ten years ago has closed.

That’s it really, other forums I have joined are still going.

I won’t join car specific ones anymore, and it has been pointed out forums are dying, I’d probably agree with that.

Facebook has always been a no no from me, so my online car journey will probably end within the next ten years.

Used to do Mr2OC IMOC and Twobrutal whilst I owned MR2s, not sure how busy they are but found them great.

I don't use Facebook owners groups it's not easy to find any specific technical walk through which Forums were a treasure trove for.

Still read RS246 for help with the RS6, which still has a dedicated following and in some respects a good support group for owners experiencing financial pain

Barryboys. I used to go on there loads, never to post just to laugh at the cars and the hideously up themselves site members. The funny thing was their attitudes were far worse than the cars they were slating, some proper grade A aholes on there!

I think the original site has been abandoned now.

Clive, the main person on there was the biggest wker out of the lot of them.

Who was the one that everybody thought was a woman, but turned out to be a bloke?
