Parenting, teenagers & COVID

With the Tiers and guidelines for social interaction how are those of you with late teen children/young adults still living at home dealing with it all? I mean, do you have kids still living at home that are still going out and mixing with friends at various homes or pubs/bars etc and are probably ignoring all the guidelines and your requests to tone it down on the socialising front?

I know a single parent with two young adults who is having to deal with this and the kids are basically doing as they please coming and going and bringing friends back to the parents house despite the parent's concerns.

My two still live at home (19 & 21), both work from home as much as possible and when they can meet friends (Tier 2) but all the staying out or having mates back to stay stopped at the end of the summer. My son collected a friend from Uni to bring him home for Xmas and made sure I saw his mates test results as I was concerned about that (I'm CEV and only a few weeks ago stopped shielding).

If they were still buggering about like they did pre-covid then I would be putting a stop to it but I trust them enough to be sensible.

Daughter has just produced 3 tickets for Exeter Chiefs on boxing day. Not 100% sure I should go to that but if they do they will stick to the rules.

Can't stop the world.

I wouldn’t worry OP, at school they completely ignore the guidelines and the schools themselves have given up bothering trying to reinforce them. Kids think they’re invincible and nothing an adult say or does will ever change that.
