Christmas alone 2020..

Hi PHer's and a Merry Christmas to all.. We have all conversed on here about, Trump, Brexit, and the dreadful Covid-19, but nothing could have prepared me for Christmas alone.. This really hit home last night, and the traditional Christmas many take for granted isn't happening.
Any others alone on this strangest of Christmas Days........?

Sorry to hear that mate. I’m not alone this time though I’m not with the friends and family I’d like to be with. Normally I like time to myself but it’s not the same when you are alone not by choice.

You're not alone - 2m people this year are on their own. I'm just off to stand in the parents in law's garden for a bit. Such strange times.

I'm using the time to catch up on some old classic films this year- The Cruel Sea last night. Cracker.

Suspected covid here so isolating in one room, was feeling ok a day or so ago but starting to feel worse again now, i just wish the results would turn up to see if it is covid but i doubt anyones working today.

I received results for a postal test this morning (negative) so fingers crossed for you!

For the first time in 25+ years I won't be visiting family, it's usually a 3 day stay, very strange. Booked into a local Brewers Fayre for the full xmas lunch, table for 1 Fortunately I like my own company and will hopefully be back for The Italian Job on C4 at 3.30pm with a cider or 2.

Merry xmas to anyone else in a similar boat.

I'm home alone this year
Previous years I've been house sitting, which is also alone but looking after animals - Covid has put a stop to that this year.
I'm watching TV and on the computer, also sipping some champagne - then will start preparing a roast pheasant for a late lunch/early dinner about 2pm.

i've had a few due to illness, ulcer on your eye ball 3 years in a row.

I have no issue with spending on my own, i try to see my family in the year anyway so not like a big thing for one day a year as some do. Better just enjoy time relaxing etc and think to new year ahead.

I'm also home alone this Christmas.I was supposed to be visiting family up in Scotland, as usual, but the Covid situation ended that plan.

I've got to admit though, it's not really a big deal for me. Throughout the year I have quite a good balance of time socialising with other people and time spent alone too which is generally quite nice.

I have lots of hobbies so I never get bored as most of those hobbies can easily be done in a group or completely solo. Although I'm officially single, I started seeing a girl towards the end of this year but, of course, she is back home with family now. It was early days but even if that doesn't work out, I find it's easier to be by yourself so long as you feel you're making progress in your life be that in any area - relationships, career, paying off the mortgage, setting new PBs for your chosen sport etc.

My Christmas is normally cooking for 45 family members - today just the 4 of us and no queues for the food!

First solo Christmas ever (39 years).

Got up late, took dogs out, had mince pies for breakfast.
Currently watching Oliver!, playing COD mobile, reading one of my PHSS gifts and being lazy!

Enjoying my self much more than I thought I was going to.
