Do they really stamp the key code on the outside of the lock? Doesn’t seem very secure.

I'd say 123 as well. It looks similar to our ladder straps, the key number is on the outside of the lock so if you fancy a set of ladders of your neighbours van just look at the key number get one from ebay for about £2 and unlock them. It does sound a pretty daft idea but I'm sure our straps aren't that difficult to get off even without a key.

Yes 123 I'd say
Had to buy a replacement for our roof box year before last as had lost the key
Found it again about a year ago.
When the roof box is on the roof it's surprisingly difficult to reach the lock never mind read the number. As you can see from the close ups. I had to guess mine for the replacement key.

How much is a key? Just buy a 123 and a 128 and bin the one you don’t need.

Neither will work, as it look like 129, so that would be a waste of money and time.

I think a good clean and a pencil rubbing will make it clearer.

The lock looks to be as good as a Ford Cortina of the 1960s so a a lolly stick or a screwdriver should do the job.

After a bit of GIMP/PAINT tweakery, I reckon it's a 128.
That said, if someone has Photoshop in an all singing all dancing version,
they'd do better.
