Looking for a cork board map of the world without country na

Morning all,

Having discovered that my teenage kids' knowledge of even rudimentary world geography is quite staggeringly appalling, I thought I'd try and do something about it by challenging them giving them country names and inviting them to stick a pin in the place they think it is. This will be encouraged by small pieces of cooked liver or something for the one that gets closest, as this tends to work very well for the dog.

The problem is finding a suitable map... I can find no end of them with country names printed on them, but that obviously defeats the whole object, and it's a surprisingly tricky thing to google.

Does anyone on here know where I might find a suitable map? Ideally cork with just the outlines so that it can be reused...

You could start the learning by getting an unmarked board and getting the kids to trace out the continent outlines?

As a possible alternative/combination , big TV & streaming Google world to it?

Showing them where key historical events were... Where big events are hosted (world Cup, olimpics, wars etc)?

Google world is brilliantly interesting & able to really make everything relative.

I feel your pain! Made a similar discovery re my daughter's parlous geography a few years ago. They hardly teach them any actual basic physical geography it seems;).

Dunno about ready made cork board maps but if you Google 'outline map posters' you can buy unlabelled world maps which you can then pin onto a cork board backing if you want to.

Well go on then!

There are cork board continent outlines as shown above, and others which show country borders but with the country names included as well.

If your Google knowledge is so much better than mine, you'll easily be able to find me one with country outlines but no names, easily available to buy in the UK!

There's a young persons/old persons hobby ideal for this: stamp collecting. Easy and cheap to start, best way of learning loads about bth geography and history.

Almost there! That with country borders but without country names would be ideal.

Basically something like this but ideally twice the size for half the price, and without the 2 week wait! £39 inc p+p for that is way OTT!
