I made the mistake of buying Hunter wellies a couple of years ago, based on reputation. Sadly they are one of those things which have been cheapened beyond belief in every way except the actual price. Any recommendations of a decent quality welly boot that doesn't cost a fortune but equally doesn't look like it's straight out of an abattoir?

If your walking any distance, or spending a significant amount of time in the boots, I would go for Aigle Parcour 2s, price is £80-180, look for offers on Amazon.

I wear mine pretty much all day, between 2 and 10 miles per day on rough ground, current pair are 2 years old and like new.

Obviously you can go cheaper, Dunlop from screwfix will be waterproof and last a while.

As you have learnt Hunters are an expensive label on a cheap boot.

After a thread on here which I can’t seem to find now, I’ve ended up with MuckBoots.

Bloody brilliant. Was between them and Agile, but lack of stock and better discount got me MuckBoots. What’s difference.

Hunters are st. Wife has a pair, her feet are always cold. Mine are toasty and they’re so comfortable.

My mum wore Hunters for years back in the day (she's always had horses) so worn daily. The last pair she bought (about 10 years ago) were utter st, they're just a fashion accessory for townies now.

Try Le Chameau as well. I have the neoprene lined boots with Vibram sole.
Generally a bit cheaper than Aigle too

Good luck finding wellies, I've had a mare getting some for up to £100 (my Hunters split) but didn't want a pair of £10 Dunlops as I wanted comfort for long dog walks, ended up finding a pair from Rydale for £50, haven't a clue what they are like, the few website reviews are good and they have good specs, they should turn up tomorrow

I have these, extremely comfy to walk in, but very difficult for me to get on as they favour a slim door and shin/calf. I bought them for standing on the rugby pitch touch line when my sone used to play as a kid and with a neoprene lining they are very warm on a cold day.

However, I wouldn't ever wear them for doing manual work such as digging etc as they feel like the slightest contact with the blade of a spade would slice straight into them. Fine for waking the dog etc, but nothing more.

I walk the dog in a pair of comfy steel-toecap leather rigger boots: great in the muddy fields, plus they also give you some protection if you're a bit careless with a garden fork. Available everywhere for around £40.
