Things you have never learned to do
Discussion
DIY, I have an accountant friend who bought a wreck of a house with land going cheap and worked on it at weekends, brick work, plumbing and electricals before getting it signed off.
I asked him where he learnt to do all that, he said he didn't but it's not rocket science is it you just do it. Bugger me I'd probably plumb the taps up to the heating system and wire the sockets to the door handles.

On my first house I got so fed up with tradesmen van breaking down when you ring them after they are already 3 hours late, them doing whats easiest for them, not what you agreed etc. I just got on with it
Only thing I don’t do is plastering and gas

Genuinely, I have massive general dislike for people who approach properties and go the DIY route - especially when its a terrace or semi ... months of noise and inconvenience of neighbours, weekends, late nights of banging and clattering and for a product that 9/10 looks like a "Bodge'it and Leggitt" production. Invariably it never ends either and there is constant rolling programme of further works once moved in, necessitating more noise and inconvenience for neighbours. All to save a few quid. When we had our rental portfolio loads of mates who had rentals as well always used to say about me using trades to redo them in-between rental periods and when kitchens needed replacing etc.... and even when we had our house built many said do a lot of the internal finish yourself ... No, just no. Your time is valuable and not worth the cost (personal and financial).
You arent missing out. Do it properly, use a good tradesperson.

Guitar for me, I had an electric guitar that I'd strum of an evening no amp just the guitar. Came home one day and went to get it out and the Mrs of the time said she'd given it away because I had about as much chance of being a guitarist as she had of shagging Brad Pitt. She cut me deep.
Understanding women.
I have tried.
Believe me, I have tried so very hard, but I have come to the conclusion that I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever be able to fathom out WTF is going on inside their heads.
Juggling.
Playing the guitar.
Laplace Transforms in mathematics. Just couldn't understand the how, what or why. I was just baffled and I failed completely to get the point. Has anyone else on here used Laplace Transforms in a career in engineering?

What a strange post. A good tradesperson costs a lot of money. For those who are time rich and cash poor DIY is the only alternative. I must have spent 1000s of hours on our place I think it would have cost more than the house was worth in labour alone. And not sure it would have been to the standard I wanted. As a fairly practical person who can turn my hand to nearly most stuff I wish I'd learnt to play an instrument, probably guitar. But for some reason my hands turn to stumps when a guitar is in front of me.
