I’ve sold two things this morning, been paid by PayPal and transferred the money into my bank account. Nothing has changed as far as I can see.

Got mine changed couple of days ago , pretty straight forward.

They are basically trying to cut out PayPal and manage all the money transfers in house, claiming the fees for themselves in the process.

I moved to managed payments just under a week ago, touch wood its been ok so far but I can see how it will put 9ff the casual seller who lists something once in a blue moon on there.

Interesting. I’ve just checked back through my emails, junk mail and messages on eBay and definitely haven’t had an email saying anything about this change.

Took my wife a few days to get her money from eBay from the sale of a pair of Dr Martins.
PayPal was much quicker in the past.

I thought ebay owned paypal? Seems a bit odd cutting off that part of the business?

I don’t mind them cutting PayPal out but the way they try and acquire control over your bank account is ridiculous. You have to be in the ball to reject that and hit the manual option. It then sets up a direct debit which is fine.

Was it? I seem to remember that withdrawing cash to a bank account took a few days, although you could spend the balance.

This means:
• You get paid directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account, regardless of how the buyer chooses to pay.
• We will initiate payouts within two business days of payment confirmation.
• Your fees, expenses and charges will be automatically deducted.
• No more PayPal payment processing fees or separate monthly fee payments.
• Most sellers will pay the same or less than before.**

You may still have to.register for managed payments even though you will never use it as I think it will become a condition of using ebay, I could be wrong though.

Nor have I. This isn't a scam is it and the folk above have been caught?

It's not a scam, they forced all business sellers to move to managed payments over the last few months and now are moving on to personal users.

I wasn't notified by email, I went onto the ebay app and onto the sellers seection and there was a notice on there, currently it's voluntary but they will eventually close accounts of those who dont sign up for managed payments.

Edit- Link for anyone who wants to read about it.

As a buyer you can still use PayPal to pay, ebay are also allowing people to pay directly with Credit Cards or Debit cards, not sure if that's a new thing or not? But it now gives buyers the choice to pay directly with a credit card without having to go through PayPal to process the purchase for a buyer.

It is apparantly meant to make purchases easier for buyers I don't know if it will.
