We are all clever company-director types on here and we know how to spot a scam when we see one. Yes? Yes.
But some of those scams seem so far-fetched that we are amazed that anyone, anyone can fall for them. Here's a nice example:

Yes, it's a natty little device that removes dirty electricity from your home. Dirty electricity. The very thought of it! Thankfully they will only charge you £59 for one of these boxes and will give you ALL of your money back if you haven't saved £59 on your electricity bill within the next 60 days.
I'm sure you all have your favourite examples of this sort of tosh and snake oil that is available - anyone care to post some?

And will it interfere with my powerlines that i use to get a signal to the virgin box behind the tv virgin gave me a cable but it wasnt long enough you see so i had to get the powerlines and they cost me fifty quid

It is purely pieces of PTFE (Teflon without the brand name) suspended in oil, all it is going to do is block up the oil filter and oil journals of your engine.
I used to do a lot of work for Shell back in the late 90s, the amount of testing their lubricants go through is insane. If this stuff was so good wouldn't Shell be adding it to their lubricants?

I once bought some turntable hearing oil from Russ Andrews, and I've been getting their catalogue of snake oil since.
Highlight of my day when it turns up in the post, mains cleaner, supports to keep your speaker cable off the floor etc etc, and customer letters saying how much better their hifi is for adding these things.
Of course nothing matches the 1980s and Jimmy Hughes extolling the need to fold the corner of a page in a book, and pinning a curtain corner up - just the one not both.
Highlight of my day when it turns up in the post, mains cleaner, supports to keep your speaker cable off the floor etc etc, and customer letters saying how much better their hifi is for adding these things.

The old thread had links to some Products and the descriptions and reviews had me howling with laughter I seem to recall a fuse for a fiver and an MK safety plug for £20 or so absolute gems.

But it must be good, as it's made in Lithuanium, the enemy of dirty electricity.
I have seen dirty electricity leaking out of the cables when I plug several high power household devices into a 6-way trailing socket, and it's not a pretty sight. The acrid smoke can be quite detrimental.
So anything that modifies the reluctance of the reactive power factor and obliviates the emr flux eddies by nodal transformative sinusoidal moderation has got to be worth installing, if only for the sake of purity, environmental mindfulness and economy.
Every gullible householder should get one as soon as they market one that is compatible with UK domestic sockets, especially if a home charging point for EVs is on the future agenda.
You wouldn't want to charge up your rare earth batteries with dirty electricity.

Two signalers were tasked to put up masts and dipole antennae, etc. I wandered out of the signals tent, looked at the barbed wire fence, checked it's alignment with a compass, and clipped onto it as the antenna. By the time the other two signalers had set up the "proper" kit I was already talking to Portishead...
