Tracing a stolen phone free online?

There was a workmen outside my house yesterday prepping and painting our postbox,i was chatting away to him then i buggered off to pick up my misses,on coming home there were a few folk milling around.
Workmen told me while he was working on the postbox(under a tarpaulin due to rain) someone stole the phone out his van,and bank cards,money were in it's wallet!!
I was trying to remember the free site i went to when i lost my mobile when i was pissed at a party one night a few years ago,then it dawned on me it was through my Google acco7nt,i thought i 'might' have been able to just stick his number in my google account and find it for him but it's account specific,obviously.
He did subsequently have a google account when i asked him but he couldn't remember his password,any other free site he can try as he'll be back today!Thanks

It's ok Google, as far as I am aware. It uses the phones location tracking, but only works while the phone is on. It will show the location up until the phone is turned off.
