What's it like?

I'm middle aged and many women my age that I know tend to be woo woo anti-vax, anti-5G, QAnon, Trump loving, conspiracy theory nutjobs. I just realised that my gf isn't and frankly thank fk for that. I can ignore the nutjobs on Facebook but just realised what "fun" it must be to have to live with someone who is a bit "out there" in their thinking. I mean, waving sage and crystals about is harmless fun but this is something else.

So what's it like?

Not married to any (anymore). The first exMrsAlorotom was a nutcase for conspiracies and suchlike.

Drove me nuts having to listen to it - thankfully she was squarely in the danger-zone (see Crazy/Hot matrix) and the alarm bells were present.

At the time she was massively into slimming drugs (turned out to be pretty much speed and illegal [of course]) and the benefits of them ... i.e. whizzing off your tits from 7am every day. Her mum was full-on as well but about the police, new world order and debt collection/baliffs - all out to get her ... no love, you just need to pay your bills - it aint rocket science!

I can only imagine what she must be like now (and I believe she has at least one daughter to spread the crazy to too).

I thank the lord every day that she decided to run off with someone else's husband cos I was too struck to see it from inside the bubble

I'm not some flat earth nut or moon landing questioner (see username) but I would suggest that there are plenty of conspiracy theories out there that have more than an element of truth.

Yes, but those that believed in it before it became fact will have moved onto something more fanciful.
The attraction of conspiracy theories is not the pursuit of truth, it is the rejection of orthodoxy.

And I stand by that comment. Don't forget that a major pub chain went to court over the government's refusal to allow hospitality venues to open when shops did.

I remain certain that sooner rather than later, once everyone has been offered a vaccine, you will not be allowed into a pub, restaurant or hotel with a COVID certificate of some kind.

I hope I'm wrong and it turns out I am a conspiracy nut.

I mean the moon is obviously crap, I don't think anyone can argue that it didn't happen, and what a technological step and great achievement that was.

I've not looked into 9/11, I don't think there was a conspiracy personally, but it COULD be possible it was orchestrated or "allowed" to happen. Have you ever seen the TV series 24? While obviously added drama and not being real life, it would not surprise me if the same level of corruption runs through into reality

Although, granted, the chances of this are infinitesimally small.

I was on a walk with a few people last week, the topic drifted onto alternative therapies, and a bloke said to one of the women “you aren’t one of those special ones that’s into all that crystal sh!t are you?”
The look she gave him back was one of absolute horror, she was that stunned, she couldn’t speak. Another woman piped up demandingly “and what’s WRONG with crystal therapy then?”
He answered “is there any proof it works?”
The 2 women walked off in disgust.

Herein lies the problem

People attempt to justify a conspiracy theory by saying something like "Have you even seen 24?" Which is a fictional TV series.

It's a bit like those who claim events happened or are happening in the Royal family because they saw it on The Crown.
