Ive asked 3 different solicitors for a quote, and after a week im still waiting for it after the initial response of we will work it out and get back to you. Is it normal to have to wait a week just for the quote?

I just remember ringing and getting an answer within seconds, or if not, they’d apologise and get back in minutes. Like I say 2012 so could be better or worse now!

They’re all stacked out

All the ones I asked had an online quote tool, took 30 minutes to get 4 quotes back. all local firms, not online-only etc

I just hope you don't get a similar quote to mine.... £9200 for conveyancing and it's not even that complicated a purchase.

Right now I think they are all snowed under because of the Stamp Duty holiday that expires on 30 June.

I got a sensible quote quick enough last month, but things have moved quite slowly since then!

You'd struggle to pick a worse time to find one tbh. With the stamp duty relief everyone is under pressure to get searches/issues sorted asap. Decent conveyancers will probably be turning away work until the deadline day passes. Good luck.
