Help a COVID restrictions virgin

Help me out here good folk of PH.

I haven't visited the UK in over a year and have no clue what your current restrictions are.

I am there in a couple of days and mainly need to know can I just walk into a pub and meet people for a drink, or do we need to book and have food?

There will be several times when the Mrs will be catching up with her women friends and I would normally just sit quietly in the corner of a nearby pub for a few hours. Can I do that this week and next?

Generally, we're kind of open. Book a table, do your own thing, and nobody much will bother you.

I can come with no restrictions from Isle of Man.


Not really done the restrictions thing before as we have either been fully locked down or fully open with no masks or distancing and nothing in between.

Its like visiting a whole new world 😂

The UK has different restrictions depending on which of the Nations you're visiting, there are also restrictions that aren't restrictions if you're visiting areas which a) have a lot of people who visited India, b) have a lot of people who are cautious of vaccines c) may, or may not have held celebrations to mark religious events.

No because I live here so can come and go freely, just have to take a test when I come home and isolate until the negative result comes back. Same or next day.

Looks like the rest of you can do the same from this weekend, then no testing at all from end of June latest.

Zero restrictions when on island. Had a massive pub crawl and trip to the theatre with 1000 people at the weekend. (There weren't 1000 on the pub crawl)

Yes, you can just walk in to a pub, do the track and trace thing, and have a beer without needing to order a meal.
If the tables are all full or reserved then you’ll be turned away, you’re not allowed to stand.
You can join a table of up to 5 other people, you don’t need to enter with them.

Not really risking it.

We have vaccinated more people than anywhere other isreal i believe, and are doing exactly the same as the Channel Islands, in fact we are a few weeks behind them opening up.

Thanks all for the info. As long as I can get beers while she yaps I am good. Will have to buy a mask though. I only ever went out twice when we needed them so just used a scarf.

Any face covering will suffice if you really need to - doesn't have to be a mask.

Yeah, I prefer silk scarves to the polypropylene, blue hanging off the chin number.

Probably about that this weekend.


First time we can get off and back without isolating on return so the other 85,000 of us are probably all jumping ship for a few days.

Prior to last year I could count on one hand the weeks when I haven't been in the UK at least once in the previous 10 years.

Stir crazy doesn't come close. Has been nice to rediscover some local places but enough is enough and I need the big wide world again (well, England and Wales for now)
