Which of these trouser fabrics is coolest

Or will there be no discernable difference?

Garment is a pair of pirate shorts for working in the heat (long work shorts to incorp knee pads), The only companies that make them such as blaklader arent cheap so want the right one. Not too worried about supposed durability as every pair of work strides I've owned, thick or thin, premium or el cheapo, trad or high tech, fails the same way with the crotch falling apart anyway, ooer-mrs!

Natural fibres breathe better. Lighter weight means cooler.

If you can, find hemp versions - not only even cooler, but they truly will last even with what appears to be a napalm emitting crotch area...

Fair point (and you've definitely got more 'tropical' experience than me!) - but the UK isn't often particularly hot and humid.

No it isn't, it's spot on. Cotton is the very last thing you want to be wearing in a hot, humid environment, as it doesn't wick at all, and will just get progressively wetter and wetter as it holds on to your sweat.

Why do you say that? Most high performance layer wear uses a non-cotton base layer closest to the skin to draw moisture away.

Never knew they were called pirate shorts, but I practically live in them. Cotton / poly mix.
