Did I Do Smoking Wrong?

Watching Mare Of Easttown, I noticed that Mare, when vaping, basically breathed in through the vape thing, rather than sucking in, and then breathing in.

I gave up smoking more than 25 years ago, but I would suck a mouthful of smoke, and then breathe that in. My wife (who gave up smoking before I even knew her) is pretty sure she breathed in through the filter in a single move rather than the two-stage thing that I did.

Was I doing it wrong?

There's sucking into the mouth, then breathing in. Which is normally done when smoking, or vaping stronger liquids.

The lighter vapes with more airflow you just breathe it straight down.

Sensible people don't do either.
