Joining the dating game

Well, time for some new adventures, as I'll be single again soon, after 30+ years of reasonably well-behaved married life. Having lived vicariously through several friends' experiences with the dating scene over the last 10-20 years, I'm all set to join in, but trepidatious about time wasters and disappointment. I'm not desperate, but bona fide, polite, good looking female company will do fine. Anyone have any advice about this, in particular filtering out the time wasters, fakes, scams, and all the other horror stories? Or even better, avoid in the first place.
Fees are not important, time and 'quality' (I'm sure there is a better word than that, but you know what I mean) are.

Drop in the bona fide, female, good looking, polite (how about table manners too?)
Top tip, finish the ads with. 'serious female applicant's only' followed by 'no time wasters'

Some people, girls and boys, seem to love dating and go from meeting to meeting but after a long bad marriage I dreaded it.
Looking back it's probably why, out of only 4 dates that I had via internet sites, I was so/too determined that they work that 2 of them ended up being 2 year + relationships which in hindsight wasn't a good thing.
Good luck, not sure I could do it again.

If you aren’t single yet as you mentioned, I would give it time. If you are going through a divorce it takes time to adjust and dating isn’t as much fun as it sounds, it can be a rollercoaster.
100% this. Learn yourself first and enjoy some single time. No harm in having some fun in that period but don't jump into something else. You might just find its more fun being single anyway.croyde said:

Not in the game myself but a good piece of advice I have seen is treat a first date as a meeting to find out whether you want to go on a date.Looking back it's probably why, out of only 4 dates that I had via internet sites, I was so/too determined that they work that 2 of them ended up being 2 year + relationships which in hindsight wasn't a good thing.
