Things you did once that you would never do again
Discussion
As I set about oiling our solid wood kitchen worktops yet again, I yet again ask myself what on earth possessed us to get solid wood kitchen worktops!
The simple answer is that they look really nice when first fitted, but at that point you don't know that it's going to be an ongoing pain in the arse to oil the bloody things, or just how annoyed you're going to get by the bits where you didn't get to them in time and you've got water stains, or one of the kids put a hot pan on it!
I wouldn't buy another one in a million years, and wish someone had warned me before I got this one, which got me wondering just how many other things there are like that which those who've done it regret it, yet people still keep on doing it. What other things have people done and then regretted?
Another for me is piano black car trim. Looks wonderful in the manufacturers' marketing shots, which are clearly taken in the vacuum of outer space, but in the real world pick up a layer of dust within seconds of even the most thorough clean!

Should've used Sadolin PV67.

I got a belt off an electric fence at the weekend high up in the Yorkshire Dales. One of those "I wonder if its live" moments.I was holding the dog at the time too. How we laughed

Well I got one leg over it and quickly came to realise as the wire kissed my undercarriage that it was an electric fence, cue what felt like a lifetime of me using my hands to hold the wire down then getting a shock in my hands, instinctively letting go and it twanging my balls with another huge zap of electricity which was repeated 8 or 9 times before my shocked brain decided this probably wasn't the strategy to get off the fence.
My ex wife by this time had come outside to witness me disappear down the bank and I could hear her let out a huge snort like a pig followed by her on her hands and knees exclaiming "I can't breathe, I can't breathe"
I will never again go on a family camping holiday. Vast amounts of shag and hassle at either end of the journey with loads of sleep deprivation in the middle. f
k that.
I always insist on renting something with walls and a roof that's already constructed when I get there with comfortable, pre-built furniture.
A billion times better.
Any one want a selection of tents and camping crap? It's filling a quarter of my shed and reminding me of those awful, s
t holidays and the sheer exhaustion of the whole thing.
