Following on from the "are you posh?" and "are you past it?" posts on here about apparent features of someone in those brackets we have the next one.....

Are you living in the past?

2000 Millennials were asked what are the behaviours of someone living in the past and this was their top 20 answers.

The most strange one is that apparently dating in real life is a sign of living in the past. I hope that means meeting people in real life rather than using apps rather than relationships now being virtual or the human race is doomed within 30 years hehe

What is your score? I scored 6 and im 45

Using cash
Putting a hankie up your sleeve
Getting bills through the post
Having posh cutlery for special occasions
Writing lists with pen and paper
Smoking
Describing a tune as 'banging'
Ringing for a taxi instead of using an app
Voting Leave
Watching actual TV
Still being on Facebook
Reading books
Going to church
Talking on the phone
Wearing skinny jeans
Using a camera
Dating in real life
Not having pronouns in your Instagram bio
Using a Satnav
Eating dairy

I would strongly suggest this list is a bit daft. Also 20 somethings don’t know everything, so how much their opinion on society at large should be taken as gospel is debatable.

yes I am struggling to think of any advice my twenty year old self could give me that I wouldn't laugh at now. I can think of plenty that would help the other way.

ETA - I used my phone to Apple Pay for something for the first time today. I've had it a year.

If I don't know where I'm going I use nav. Seems more modern than asking directions from passers by.

Never used a sat nav, I look it up before I set off and just drive there.

If I'm stuck I pull over and look at Google maps on t phone.

I scored nine but as I'm 71 I feel vindicated on age grounds.

Some of those are utterly daft!!!

Putting a hankie up your sleeve - Has anyone born after the 2nd Boer War EVER done this????
Watching actual TV - I assume this means "watching actual TV whilst it's being broadcast, so you can't skip the adverts"?
Talking on the phone - Good luck getting a half-decent job, people not living in the past!
Using a camera - If nobody living in the present ever uses a camera, why bother fitting one to every mobile?
Dating in real life - Because having sex is so much living in the past!!!
Using a Satnav - See "using a camera"
Eating dairy - Back in a minute... I'm just popping downstairs to tell my teenagers that tonight's pizza will look rather redder than usual, because we don't want to live in the past!

Could have probably added a few oldie points to the original list.

Programs TV shows that he wants to watch later.

Likes a good pair of leather shoes

Has a mobile phone but takes the view that if someone wants to talk to me they can wait till I get home.

Likes the sound of old, single cylinder British motorcycles

Haha yeah hehe

I think the sat nav thing refers to a Tom Tom type box rather than never using it at all. Same with a camera meaning a compact or SLR. These people will be using nav and photos on their phones all the time

Let’s face it a lot of it is just about a different world view isn’t it….. cash, nav, dating, tv, camera etc can all be done on the one device these days

Newer does not equal better in the majority of cases.

I think they mean using a dedicated camera (same for inbuilt satnav) rather than using the camera/satnav(waze, Apple Maps, Google Maps etc.) on a smartphone.

13. Of course I'm 'living in the past it's where I came from and I wore skinny jeans the first time round in the 80s. I looked like a pair of golf clubs as does the yoof of today.
I could write a similar list for todays younger generation too.
