Things other people do that you find odd

One of my favourite threads on here is the odd neighbours one, and something the other day got me thinking, what are odd things people you know do that you didn’t know were a thing?
Whenever my in-laws make me a cup of tea or coffee it tastes odd. Insert joke here about what they’re putting in it haha. But I discovered when the kettle has been boiled, any leftover water is left to cool and then put in a jug in the fridge to be re-used on future cups of tea. I think it’s about saving water but it seems really odd to me and the resulting tea is very plasticky!

That is very odd! Why on earth do they not just leave it in the kettle?

And to add to that, I know people who re-use tea bags!

And my parents empty their used loose tea and coffee into a plastic bucket to put in the compost...

Not quite re use them but my other half likes her tea so weak we make two cups with one teabag at the same time.

And we leave any unused water in the kettle, I can't believe you would put it in the fridge

Just mains water and not metered either I’d imagine going off the age of the house. But the whole jug thing is very odd lol.

Have they lived in Africa? this used to be common practice as it made the water "safe to drink" and you could make cold drinks with it later.

Treat animals as humans. Having pets is odd enough, but allowing them into your bed and calling them fur babies etc is bonkers.

Nah, you're quite right. A friend of mine feeds his pooch sirloin. WTF. The dog would probably be happy with rat.

Yes, that's what I do. Always use fresh water for tea making, but the excess water in the thermos often warms the mug first

Don't get my brother in law to make tea. He did it here last time he visited. He made 6 mugs of tea with one bag, and saved it to use again.

Same in India. Tap water is often not safe to drink. So water is boiled and then kept in the fridge.

Isn't that going to increase the concentration of any minerals etc that are dissolved in the water?
Pretty sure I can taste the difference if I boil the same water several times during the day to make a few cuppas.
I actually pour away any water that has been boiled twice and is unused.

Someone once said it removes the oxygen from the water, not sure if its true but you can taste the difference in re-boiled water or water left in a glass overnight.
