My daughter’s school: they have a skiing, horse jumping and water polo teams.

School my brother taught (technology) in: he fixed a camcorder to the ceiling, inside a metal cage he had fabricated, so he could record what was going on in the lessons (this was some time back - probably illegal now under data privacy laws).

I went to a Grammar School in the 70s thanks to Maggie Thatcher!

Took lessons in Latin and Classical Greek. The latter was handy to read road signs on holidays in Greek Islands. laugh

If you were good at rugby (I was not) you would tour Australia.

My son is RSM in his school's CCF. The school go skiing each year, the First 15 rugby team usually have a tour somewhere - RSA, Oz, etc.

They have a swimming pool, astro pitch, cricket square with ancient pavilion, two in fact. A theatre, an active jazz and brass band, archery, fully equipped gym, and former pupils such as Jeffery Archer and David Suchet.

But apparently it's not posh.

F--k me the entitlement of some of the parents though, you'd never ever get tired of punching them in the face.

I'd say top 20 of The Times Independent Schools List. I think mine's currently number one, it definitely wasn't that highly-rated when I was there.

Not too soon after I left, my school became the first to have an in-school, full time police officer.

Someone set light to the school during a fire drill. The teachers were trying herd kids back into a burning building insisting it was only a drill.

Kids and teacher drank in the same pub.

My parents lived in a council house and I went to a Grammar school and had the choice of football, rugby, tennis, hockey, playing the violin, athletics, cross country running and cookery.

I left in summer 1969, the next term it turned comprehensive.

I reckon that was a combination of both.

In my high school the Gideon's came to do a talk and gave every pupil in the year group a bible, the following break time one of the kids went out into one of the tennis courts (which were tarmac) and tied the bible to a rocket and lit it which went up and promptly exploded the bible, he said he was sending it back to god.

It was early summer I seem to recall so I have not got any idea to this day where he got the firework from to do it in the first place

My old school was a small town.
The list (from memory [late 70s, early 80s]). There's probably more now, as the fees have increased considerably ...

Swimming pool
Squash court
18th century paintings in the dining hall
Relics from Scott's Expedition in the library
Tennis courts (grass and hard court) (at least 10)
Rugby / football pitches (at least 30)
Cricket pitch
Theatre / cinema
Infirmary (probably about 10 beds)
Its own sewage works
25m shooting range (.22s)
CCF (incl the first RM detachment)
Military band
Military guard (that used to fire .303s on parade)
Chapel and organ (both much larger and grander than most churches)
Houses for the staff (probably around 50)
Old Boys' Association

Surprisingly, the school wasn't thought to be posh by anybody.

I thought that sounded like my sons school…… but didn’t; think that pair went there. Wrong Wellington.

Beginning of term a few kids were delivered by helicopter. That was posh!

My comp wasn’t posh. Not sure if it was the 6th formers avoiding the teachers or vice versa at the pub at liunchtime
