What is this?

Had lunch in one of the numerous, cheap Chinese restaurants where I live. Just over £6 for hot spicy beef and rice. A winning combination of chilli and Sichuan pepper. Or so I thought.

Had finished the beef and was polishing off the rice when I came across the attached. I wasn’t sure what it was but it certainly didn’t appear to be a grain of rice.

Any thoughts? (I tried to get a decent photo but this turned out to be the best).

Looks like the skin off a small chili, or an insect. You'll probably poo your insides out shortly.

That looks like the end of a beansprout to me - but the photo really isn't very clear.

I did squish it a bit in trying to figure out what it was (plus photo not good). Bean sprout is better than what I feared it might be (maggot).

Difficult to tell but looks like the end of a beansprout or the skin of a garlic clove.

It really looks like the “shell” of a cats claw. I’ve just checked our cat scratching post. They often come off as a whole shell (these are in halves)
