The welfing manager where I ussed to work was looking up some welding procedures on line and typed in"full penetration butt weld. ( a perfectly normal welding term).
Needless to say the company HR had him infront of the management to explain himself.....

I used to play an online game that had a swear filter in the text chat.

Unfortunately, one of the low level areas you had to go to for an early mission was called Cave ( as in a small hole or cavity, i.e. the entrance to the cave was through a narrow crack in the rock face).

But it was a little hard to find that the mission objective was in there.

So the text chat was constantly full of people saying "WHERE DO I GO TO FIND XYZ?"

And anyone replying "It's in Cave" had their message blocked.

They renamed it to "Rift Cave" a couple of updates later.

EDIT: Hilariously, I can't tell properly tell the story about a stupid swear filter messing things up because of PH's stupid swear filter messing things up.

The word is c h i n k, a small gap etc.

That seems like a very stupid one to filter. It’s a perfectly normal word and not something that should be in day to day usage. Seems like something that should be dealt with by mods. It’s not like dropping an f-bomb, which is just normal language.

Try talking about Brain's Faggots on Facebook - it may be resolved now but at one point there were, apparently, a few bans handed down.

In fact FB has had issues with non-US culture quite a lot recently
