It's possible there will be a difference in the type if gear you'd hire compared to what you'd buy (or be prepared to pay).Lasers - for example. Good ones with decent power and light and effects can set you back £2k or more. The one I use for mobile DJaying cost me £800. Similarly for smoke machines. They are not all alike and one for a Marquee would set you back at least a £1k.
