Hello all, I'm after a wall clock in Aldershot and the seller won't pack it for a Hermes pickup. Could anyone here please do the pick up and packing for me if I cover the costs and add a genuine pint or two?

Update: 27 mins to go - I can get all the details if I buy/win.

Maybe try the local section of PH too? I'm a bit far away or would help...
Thanks Smitters, I appreciate your responding. The item didn't sell this time so she might change her mind about packing it for me. I'll
see if she relists and then do more networking at a closer range. It isn't a large clock...
..and having only the little side glasses, they're tougher than most. A stout cardboard box and lots of bubble wrap does the business, even with Hermes.

I'm nowhere near so can't help unfortunately, but that's an impressive pair of clockweights! The item didn't sell this time so she might change her mind about packing it for me. I'll

You want someone to do a load of work for you for about £8 - after we've seen your other thread trying to get someones eBay account closed down for not posting a 'collection only' listing to you.Ta

Here's a tip - stop looking at 'collection only' if you're not willing to collect.
There is a reason they are cheaper and you are not fulfilling that reason.
I wouldn't ask someone I knew personally to do that, let alone someone I've never met.
What happens if the clock is damaged on collection? Do you expect this person doing you the favour to argue with the seller about it?
What happens when it's damaged in transit because it wasn't packed correctly? Who are you going to blame?
This isn't the community or bunch of mates chatting that some people think it is. It's a huge number of strangers and that's all.

You want someone to:
Travel to a stranger's house
Collect a bulky and delicate item
Package said item
Arrange a collection time with you
Wait for the item to be collected.
All for a couple of quid.
Stop bidding on collection only items if you can't be bothered to collect.

Aldershot is about 18 miles from me so a bit out of the way but OP, if you get stuck let me know.

It is a 4+ hour car journey
How are you going to compensate the driver for doing this chore for you?

They wouldn't.
How annoying for the item seller, that someone is bidding for an item who cannot fulfil the condition of sale.
How many posts have we seen here, from sellers, who have had people win an auction for a collection only item, only to be asked to post it
. Bear in mind the OP has been bidding without having found someone to do all the hard work for him

.Plenty of these reproduction Dutch Zandaam clocks about. I really wouldn't bother unless it's very cheap - less than £50.
I've seen these fitted with 3 different types of movement:
30 hour cuckoo-style movement. Don't bother, as it'll be worn out, and you'll get fed up with having to wind it every day.
8 day 1950's generic German movement. Good clocks if it's been serviced recently.
8 day 1970's or later German movement made by Hermle. Nice movements, but need a rebuild every 20 years, as they wear badly.
I'd go for the Hermle movement. If it doesn't work, you can still buy a new replacement for the cost of a full service, and swap it yourself.

And the buyer has not "arranged" for a courier but is begging for one for free on PH. with zero replies.
