Debit card overcharging at Sainsbury’s
Discussion
Yesterday my debit card was declined 7 times at the self service check out of Sainsbury’s for two lots of shopping (embarrassing I did it more than once but the money was there). So I go to the cash machine to take out the cash to pay for the shopping. I get home and discover from my account that all 7 payments went through - they weren’t declined. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you get the money back?
That's not great- you might to push them quite hard to get them to refund as they often like to take 7 days to undertake a "review"- basically checking that you are telling the truth.
I had something similar with M&A- went in for a large shop- bought 38.50 worth of food and they debited £3,850 from my account
The women next to me have £10k go out!
They were surprisingly uninterested at customer services.......

Had similar in a sandwich shop recently with a contactless transaction. First attempt was declined, second went through. Checked in my banking app the next day and found both had been taken.
Next day, and before I had a chance to contact the bank about it, the extra transaction was refunded in full. Their systems are pretty good about this sort of thing, and if it isn't corrected automatically, then they'll sort you out when you call.
