Not really music related so mods please can you leave it here.
Listening to Adele’s new song. (Had no choice as it’s on all stations pretty much on repeat it seems) and her interviews it appears to me that she’s one selfish git.

She says she hopes her child understands that she needed to rip his world apart so she could be happy.
No staying together and working at things. Her life is not one of toil. No graft for 10 hours a day on NMW but she needed to find herself.

I am the child ( Ok 49 year old) of selfish parents who spent their lives doing what made them happy including getting divorced when I was 7.
So Adele I’ve got to tell you your 9 year old will not understand you needing to find self love and happiness. He will be heartbroken that you ripped his life apart and that he doesn’t get to see his Dad every day.
You are a selfish narcissist.
Song is dull as well. Musical equivalent of magnolia paint.

What do others think?

For every adult who feels their childhood was ripped apart by their parents divorcing, I suspect you'll find another whose childhood was ruined by their parents staying together.

Don't know the song or the singer, but have considerable sympathy with your outlook. People who actively try to pursue their own happiness have generally misunderstood what makes genuinely content and happy people content and happy. Those who actively choose to try to pursue their own happiness at the expense of others, including their own fking kids ... well, it's obviously too late, but they should not have been pursuing long-term relationships let alone having kids until they'd done a load more growing up first. They're emotionally stunted perpetual teenagers, and, as well as damaging their partners and offspring, they are destined to remain emotionally unfulfilled unless they reach sufficient self-confidence that they stop thinking about themselves and start thinking about other people.

My parents have been married for 53 years.

There isn’t a time when I speak to my mum that she wishes she hadn’t got divorced many, many years ago. She put her own happiness aside for the children. I have always - because that stuff shows every day - wished that she hadn’t.

Great voice but yes, the song is just generic background music.

I missed her last concert as she cancelled it... my partner thought we should go as something to do.

I wasn't disappointed as I didn't fancy sitting there listening to her swear into the audience between songs as was apparently the case. Think the act is aimed a kids who think vulgarity is cool.

Still, great voice. Just use it for good eh wink.

I think you are projecting your experiences onto someone else with no knowledge of how their life is.

I expect the kid sees more of his dad than his mum.

You are the selfish one you narcissistic fool.

No child should want their parents to live in misery. I speak as a child of parents who have 5 marriages between them.

If Adele’s 9 year old doesn’t understand his parents or any other human’s need to find self love and happiness, the boy needs a reality check and quick.

Which is why the rest of us wish we were never born in the first place. Problem solved.

You should go and see someone about your issues, I imagine like me and the vast majority of people our age our parents divorce when we were kids rarely pops in to our heads.

Dude you need to wisen up.

What these celeb's come out and say right before they drop a new product to sell is fictional rubbish. Adele and Simon live quite literally next to each other in Bervery hills so the kid will see both parents all he wants.

Adele is milking it, and writing the usual Adele song. All this is so people show her interest in her and make her money - as her true reality of her having a great life with zero issues doesn't sell like 'empowered female' story.

So what has your life been like in the 42 years since your parents divorced?

Clear as mud that.
Are you saying your mum wished she'd divorced your dad years ago rather than stay married for 53 years for the sake of the children ?
Surely she could have had her divorce when the children reached adulthood without any guilt ?
What does your dad say ?

Should have done that BEFORE having kids.

Well, I'm considerably older than the Mash Man, and although I know of Adele, I wouldn't know any of her songs if I heard them. Likewise Nicki(sp?) Minaj, Cardi B and Lisso (Lizzo?) whose names have popped up around here recently.

Technology, on the other hand, is something I'm all for, if it make my life easier.
