Xmas lights, too soon?

M&S in St Albans was playing Xmas music last Sunday.

Our local Walmart cleared out the gardening center and stocked it with christmas decorations and kids toys about a month ago.

Last Christmas was quiet for most people due to covid but this year people are going to go nuts as a lot of people have extra money from not going on holidays etc. I think it will get quite messy and it wont help that its over a weekend too so I think a lot of people will take the week after off as Mon and Tue is a BH and then the week after the Mon is also a BH.

We've ordered the meat for Christmas delivery (pipersfarm.com it's really good quality) today, more out of making sure it's sorted and we aren't affected by shortages. 15% off voucher code helps too. But Christmas lights in October is ridiculous. We'll put ours up the first weekend in December as usual.

As long as they aren't causing annoying light pollution then why not. I'm a bit of a scrooge but don't mind a bit of festive lighting.

Yeah way too soon but I am sure wrapping paper was available in September in Tesco. If it weren't for kids I would not even bother but I know many love it.

I'm sure there was a time when that was normal; in fact I'm sure it was 12 days before, and then 12 days of Christmas. I even think 1st Dec is far too early.
But November, or October is insane....What on earth is wrong with people nowadays......

I can just about accept the shops having them up - and the adverts will be on TV soon (if they're not already).

However, it's an excuse to watch the two BBC's Grumpy Guides to Christmas narrated by Geoffrey Palmer - both on You Tube.

Christmas has gone early this year. Already a music tv channel and DAB radio channel, neither normal before the first week of November.

Christmas starts on the 24th Dec and ends on the 26th.

What irritates me is all the crappy Xmas songs they play in shops from early November. Can you imagine what it would be like to work in one and have to listen to that drivel 8 hours a day.

Yes I can. Few years ago, one of the bosses said to me that could you please put some christmas music on for the customers. Sure I said.
Few hours later same boss comes fuming that she can't take it anymore. And there was no jolly ho-ho-ho music at all after that.

I know a woman who put Halloween decorations up... and took them down 2 weeks ago for Christmas ones.

I also do around start December depending when the weekend falls and take down after new year.

I know someone through work who lives in Texas and he said he and his missus decorate the outside of the house six times a year - he has a double garage completely full of stuff in different themes.

I can’t even think what the six occasions would be.

I saw a work colleague on Instagram (yes, I know, the only form of socials I have though) and he had his tree up early last month. I couldn't fking believe it. But there it was in all it's glory.
