supermarket argument: abadoned trolley, thoughts?

Today I was waiting in car at the supermarket. The women (car parked the one after mines) leaves the trolley beside the pavement or beside my car as i was parked at the end so I horned and went to tell her to put trolley back. Then her other half started defending to say mind my own business and the car beside also butts in like assholes and defends the women.
Seriously, after some arguments back and forth, I decided to just get back into my car and they drove off then a minute later, a elderly woman approaches me and said I done the right thing as its bad manners to leave abadoned trolley.
Still a bit hot headed with the argument which took place afternoon
It was 2 vs me and what is your opinion and what would you have done in the same situation.

Wouldn't usually share 'memes', let alone ones from 4chan. Sums it up quite well for me though.
For me there is no excuse to not return your trolley. Its a pure selfish act to just dump it close to where your car is. People like to have excuses like having children. Guess what? I've got children and have always returned the trolley. OP you are in the right but the majority of the public are just so self absorbed that they see it as someone else's job.

It is very lazy and hardly takes anything to put it back but it’s not as peasantry as beeping your horn at someone and then having a argument with them about something that doesn’t concern you.
I would say you’re more of a knob than her. Mind your own, might bring your blood pressure down, do you also block 2 lanes 300 yards before merge in turns to stop people “pushing in”

The only thing you've achieved is that it's got you upset. You're unlikely to change their minds, they're more likely to get defensive/argumentative if you confront them, blowing your horn at them would be seen as aggressive.Try and forget about it and move on.
Went to a DIY store, parked away from other cars, but came back to find not one, but two trolleys nestled against the side of my car, actually touching it….the trolley parking was 15 ft away, if I had been there I would have said something, or more likely wouldn’t have had to, as no one could be that dense, could they?

If she and her partner had the energy to argue back then probably not. If she’d said something along the lines of “I’ve just strapped my baby in the car and don’t want to leave them” fair enough. In fairness, it’s just plain lazy and ignorant to walk away from your trolley. Decency and respect for others is non existent now. The same applies for filtering traffic.

It’s why most people don’t bother to do what the op did; they know how it’s going to end up.
And with a seeming growth in violent nutters, it’s not necessary only a verbal abuse you might have to deal with.
