Nice comfortable leather work boots ?

My old work boots are starting to fail, after only about 12 years use.

Work tend to issue cheapest least-flexible, hardest work even walk in, pieces of own brand sh it from Arco.

Lots of boots are also heavy and clumpy, and the range appears stupidly huge.


Lot of Dewalt on screwfix, composite midsole, side stitching for better flex maybe ok if £70?

I have some Dickie's ones that are more like walking boots in appearance and have found those very comfortable for a full day of lugging stuff about, and I've dropped enough things on my feet to prove the toe caps. Can't vouch for the longevity as I'm only wearing them at weekends, but they've not shown any undue signs of wear. They do black leather-type ones, worth a shout?

Had a couple of pairs of V12 boots over the years, including a pair of riggers, and I've always found them comfy and sturdy.

I can recommend Redback boots. Quite pricey but the most comfortable work boots I've ever had. Three years of virtually everyday use and still going strong. Boots don't usually last me more than a year, working in all weathers.

I've been wearing Uvex Quatro from Arco

The rubber toe outer looks a bit like fire brigade, but the boots are comfy and long lasting, wear them all day, easy get 2-3 years out of a pair

Can vouch for Grisport ( I think) as they are sold up here under Rogersons own brand.
Nearly finished my second pair, not workboots but more a comfy heavy shoe in my own case.
Will go looking for another pair shortly.

I use steel capped DMs, have done for years, get circa 365 days out of them.

I like to wear some ted baker Chelsea boots, wear well and look good.

I have worn Dewalt for the past 3yrs and really rate them. Very waterproof. Comfortable straight away (no need to break them in).

Has a couple of pairs now costing £60-70. I don't pay for them but would be happy to over free issue crap boots (I've suffered many in the past!).

I’ve got some De Walt boots that are about 10 years old now, proper comfy! Mine were from Screwfix but they were less than half the price of those ones!

I usually get between 3-6 months hard use out of a pair of work boots, by this time the sole is worn thin and the toe cap is nearly falling out. I have tried lots of different makes and styles in the £50 range. And have found Screwfix Site Tufa boots to be the most comfortable with an extra cheap in sole added. Far better and longer lasting than the various dewalt ones I have tried. Screwfix have added loads of different styles to the Site brand now at fairly reasonable prices.

V12s tend to last me about a year to 18 months depending on how hard I abuse them.

I've got no idea how much they cost, my other half bought them for me (she's in procurement so this is her bag), but they are readily available. They're the 2976 boots.

Just sat down at my desk, so I'll update as and when. I don't do a lot of heavy "work" on the 'shop but I do need safety shoes and I do a lot of walking, so hopefully I'll get a good while out of them.

That's what I was thinking! They certainly became harder to find. I stockpiled two pairs... on expenses.

Sounds good.

Not needing to 'break them in' is always a good sign in my book, especially as they are only used occasionally. Lasting 10 years means the initial purchase price is managable.

Ah you remember the thread too, I think he said DM were withdrawing from the UK or something which seemed a bit far-fetched.
I also got two pairs, figured as I wear then anyhow it didn't matter.
Talking about this however caused me to go looking at prices and availability again, I've just picked up two new pairs at half price on Ebay
