First member of Pistonheads?
Discussion
I'm not the first member, but I probably joined a couple of months after it started up.
But I have only just found out that pistonheads used to be the online forum for Evo until it was shut down.
But I'm sure I remember the forum was originally called PetrolHeads.com - but they had to shut it down and rename it. Then we had to move our logins to Pistonheads. I never knew the reason other than they said "legal reasons" at the time. But maybe it was because of the Evo forum.
Anyone know the original history ? I've come over all curious.

255 months? One of the old guard for definite, TVRs were still current models then!
I'll bet that several generations of in-jokes have arisen, been used, got the sour-faced peeps in a tizzy about how "it's not funny and never was" and later been lost to the annals in that time...
I shall hammer a frozen sausage into my goatee-bearded director tonight and toast your good health, sir.

Yes, TVR ownership brought me to the forum and I worked in IT. Bought my first TVR in 1995 and then the second in 1999.
I had no idea the Petrol Ted podcast existed. Just listening to it now. The forum was pretty wild back then - I remember people getting peoples IP addresses and trying to work out who you were. Back then there weren't too many people online and most of us were IT workers so we knew what we were doing !

You used to be able to access the forums through severs URLs including petrolheads and pistonheads. I think I first joined in 2003 or 2002. I have, er, misplaced several logins since and was once banned at my own request so I would stop f

I am assuming the number after memberid in the address bar if you click on your name is roughly the order that people joined? lowest I could find was PetrolTed as you would expect!

This does ring a bell. I have to say I joined over 20 years ago reading up on TVRs. It took me a further 13 years to buy one!!! But I have only just found out that pistonheads used to be the online forum for Evo until it was shut down.
