Tenner an hour is about right.
I don’t really want to “get away” with underpaying where my neighbours kid is concerned. I am generous and might well have over-paid without some guage.
Just trying establish what is fair these days. Glad to hear £10 ph is not unreasonable.
(I’ll be checking the parents are happy with the rate of course)

We pay 10 but then she's 55 and had 2 kids of her own so knows the ropes.
A friend of mine always had his neighbours young girls lining up to babysit his 3 kids,he would always come home drunk and just pull whatever nots he had in his pockets and hand them over 
This was 15-18 years ago and most of the time the girls were walking away with £30/40 and even more

I'd ask their parents for a steer, they might say "Oh they're only spend it on fags and dark fruits, give 'em £5" or "£9.50 per-hr is living wage" you never know. £15 an hour? That's £3 an hour more that newly qualified registered Nurses earn.

My mom looks after my sister's friend's 1 year old one day each week while she's returning to work.. Typically around 6 hours so 9-3 or 10-4, something like that, and she only takes £25/day for it...
She's retired so it's just mate's rates really and no real hassle for 1 day each week... cash has been put in a jar for a few months and is basically paying for our Christmas food and drink
