She wants a bracelet but the usual stocking fillers are dwindling, no more CD's these days for example, though have got her a DVD set as cant get what she wants online as a download.

She likes a pile of presents to open, what are you getting your other half, want to nick your ideas.

When you are next discussing presents just pull the same face she pulls when she asks you the same question and you reply "Steak and Blow Job" in a hopeful, but pretending to be joking way.

That's right the, "Well that ain't happening" face.

I'll be surprising her with an empty house, a bottle of chilled champers and my good self wearing noting but a strategically placed bow-tie.

I always get her a bottle of Champagne, though a few weeks back she decided to treat herself to a bottle of Veuve Cliquot from my account which was quite expensive, will get her some more to open.

She wants a Mustang but has never driven one so got her a voucher to drive a selection of them, will never get used of course and I will end up doing it

Homemade ticket to a meal with distant relatives on Boxing Day. Used this one a few years ago and booked the trip to her parents near Dublin on the quiet.

I went to Whitby earlier this year and they have absolutely dozens of shops all selling the stuff including a little museum, conveniently attached to yet another store selling them ,. All great stuff, unusual etc etc until you realise that it's just coal. Fossilised coal but its still just a lump of polished coal

Shoes, couple of books, bottle of booze.

We've bought each other expensive-ish stuff in the past (iPad for her, bass guitar for me, experiences etc.). This year there seems no point booking weekends away and days out with the uncertainty about whether they will happen. So I've tried to get her to agree to just getting a couple of small, inexpensive items each. Looking forward to finding out how much these shoes cost though...

After getting bked for getting some last minute rubbish presents the last couple of years, I asked her what she'd really like for Christmas.

She now has a very nice Aspinal's satchel bag and silk scarf on order.

I'm happy with whisky and socks.
