The drivers get literally pennies per delivery and as such speed is absolutely of the essence if they are to make any money.

A bit like buses, if they gave everyone 2 additional minutes, they'd never get anywhere.

no, every delivery I've had they are very happy, always helpful and friendly. i'm the same in return.

I notice you mention the word abuse, yet offer no actual evidence he abused you.

They get paid peanuts, worked to the bone maybe give a bit of leeway next time, won't escalate a situation.

The thing is delivery drivers are under a lot of pressure now, big brother is watching them and his boss would know exactly where he is every minute of the day. They can't hang about.

When I delivered parcels in the early 70's, if I finished my drops by dinner time I used to go sunbathing in the park for four hours on firms time. cool Nobody bothered.

I’ve had the code thing, they tell you it’s coming and to expect it, they then send you it.

You tell the guy, he gives you the box and he goes on his way.

Unless it was Jeff Bezos delivering, you sound more than a bit odd here.

Sounds to me like the OP needs to book himself on a de escalation course, how you managed to turn a simple delivery into that I'll never know.

I once had a ruck AS a delivery driver
I beeped at a bloke standing in front of my truck, to let him know I was setting off, he spat at me through the window
I got out and we started a bit of a fight

Then this rasta cycle courier came up and shouted "in the name of Jah, stop de fighting!"

So that did the trick

How did the abuse manifest itself?

But you said there was no rudeness or shouting?

As others have said - these drivers are paid the bare minimum, and speed counts.

It seems as though you failed to read and comprehend your delivery notification email.

I had the code thing, the bit which was a bit off was that IIRC the code was supposed to be emailed 24hrs before delivery, but the delivery ended up being a day early... So the code only arrived about 30 mins before the driver.... No real bother though, open email on phone, give code to driver, sorted.

Arguing with a poorly paid, overworked and over stressed delivery driver.

At Christmas.

Yep, good luck with that one!

It's poor form to get annoyed with someone who has no possible way of influencing the (highly automated) process.

While a lot of delivery drivers aren't the best at customer service. I'm inclined to side with the person who isn't posting a huge rant on an Internet forum about some minor interaction that didn't go ad quickly as they hoped it would and saying that the OP will have been the pain in the arse.

Yup. I don’t think you’re going to get many people on your side with this one.

Not really sure why the customer is getting grief for an internal policy of Amazon's. That should be their problem, however it's the customer who is potentially left without the goods they have paid for.

As for this driver, make a complaint to Amazon but don't expect anything to come of it.

No, I haven't. I live rurally and having a fight with one of my delivery drivers would definitely not be in my best interests in the long run. As above they work long hours for cack all money. Unless they're kicking the parcel around the driveway, whatever is less than ideal from my perspective is highly unlikely to be anything they can do much about.
