Down Jacket Repair - improvements?

Years ago I purchased a Bergans down jacket from eBay and it is a really nice jacket. Not long after I got it, I realised that 2 of the baffles on each arm had almost no down in at all, not sure why, but washing and tumble drying didn't sort it. I decided to purchase some down and I made cuts on the inside of the baffles in the sleeve, stuff a bit more down in and then reseal with tenacious tape.

The problem is, even though I rounded the edges of the tape, it is really uncomfortable next to skin, so I am wondering if there is anything I can either cover it with, or replace with to make it more comfortable?

Probably a long shot, I know, but I thought it was worth a try!

The bits of tape are probably 13cm long following the direction of the baffles around the inside of the sleeve.

Seriously though can you use a silk tape for the skin contact, over the top of the thick stuff? It's hypoallergenic and, well, it's silk. Good enough for pants, good enough for coat linings?

Just look for a local seamstress, I damaged a very expensive snowboarding jacket and it cost 15 quid for a local work from home type lass to fix it for me.

Yup, I recently found a great little retoucherie for jobs like this.

Also worth asking your dry cleaner. They'll either do it sub it to someone who can.

Good shout for contacting local repairer. I'll see if I can find any small local ones on Facebook that might be able to help. Failing that, I may try the softer fabric tape over the top.

Probably no practical use to you OP but whilst trawling through the channels the other night, I came across this on NHK, Kaketsugi invisible repair. I never it was even a thing, not sure if anyone does it in this country. Another vid here showing the process, weaving in the fibres individually.

I've had jackets repaired by ^^^ LSR and they did a seriously good job, expensive but improved an already expensive jacket. Highly recommended.

Can you put the tape on the inside of the baffles instead of the outside? I’ve done that when repairing waterproof shorts to avoid chafing. Some seam sealer or flexible glue will keep any loose fabric from catching.
