Would love to get him into the late 20th Century if possible.

He just likes to think that it was so much better in his generation.

My Dad bought this iPad five years ago (now mine)I had to set up a Facebook for him, but he has no clue how to use it... everybody calls me his private secretary.
He can’t even tune in a TV.
He has his own pad now, he’s just happy with his games, news etc....just the basic stuff.

How about offering the MiL a compromise? If she lets you put Whatsapp on her phone, and agrees to look at what you send for a month, then if she really doesn't think its worth having after the month, you agree to remove it and not raise the subject again. The Mad Monk said:

My mother (85) has resisted any modern technology, no computer, smart phone, etc etc.
Somehow last year someone manage to crowbar an Amazon Fite Tablet in her hand and she loves Facebook and Direct messenger. However she complains that there is nothing on TV these day but repeats. I have lent her DVD's and added her to my Netflix but she says she forgets to use them/it.

Today’s debate...
Heating on constantly at set temperature 24/7
Heating put on when required & switch off at night.
Big Brother & Service engineer say 24/7... on smart meter so maybe give it a go & monitor it.
(Might be able to break a lifetimes habit).
NB: On the EV front... maybe Tesla’s on the back burner at mo.

Got the CRV’s on the rad’s balanced just nicely now.
Experts reckon 72 for the living room, but we find 65 is just about right.
