So, what's next after covid?

And here we go, a couple of years ago, it was all Brexit. Then it became all covid.

When do you think covid is going to go away from the news reports? Will it go away?

What's next on the agenda, hyperinflation? War (seems likely)?

I think that once Russia and Ukraine finish their business, attention will turn to plastic... Plastic tax, plastic awareness, plastic limits. I think the government will focus on emission promises and realise this is a much bigger contribution than internal combustion.

Just my thoughts.

I'm not sure there will be oil shortages as such, there will be inconsistencies and pockets of limited availability caused by the public, rather than access to the product.

Remember so many nations rely on fossil fuel income. Even in war time, they want to sell stuff.

But you could be completely spot on.

That would require some long term strategic thinking and I just don’t think that’s our thing.

I was more thinking of price inflation, lagging wage inflation and so industrial unrest. A reduction in disposable income…
Probably some other bad stuff I’ve forgotten.

Banking collapse - Everything is electronic now. If the banking system were to crash globally, I'd give it 2 or 3 days before anarchy broke out.
Russia meddling - Gas supply or stirring trouble in Europe. The Wests leaders are now too wet to retaliate appropriately and things intensify.
Climate Change - That was all we heard about before Covid, and there's unfinished business there.

The answer is staring you in the face. Just because Covid intervened, it doesn’t mean Brexit is over. The Brexit storyline is only just into it’s second act.

Meanwhile I think that in economic terms this is the calm before the storm.
